Skiing at Mount Pleasant, London
The area on which Royal Mail Mount Pleasant
now stands was originally openfields on rising ground above
The River Fleet. In the18th century a Cold Spring on the site
reputed to have great medicinal properties which attracted
many bathers. The site became now as Cold Bath Fields, however
the fields were later used as rubbish tip which more than a hint
of sarcasm became known as Mount Pleasant.
In 1790 site was cleared to make new way for a new prison

Ambushment 1

AMBUSHMENTS 1 (Strip Club & Lido) London, 2004
In the ambushments series, the first building is located at Hampstead Heath , where the subterranean London River ‘The Fleet’ rises above the ground. After feeding the Hampstead Ponds, The Fleet goes underground discharging to the River Thames. The building is located on a flat land where the trees are not as dense and stand like poles. It wraps around these pole a like trees, in some places taking them in.
The façade is equipped with flat display units and image sensors which help to camouflage the building by reflecting its surroundings, adapting to the changing scenery and lighting conditions. The façade becomes blur and indiscernible only rendering the entrance visible. Inside it is a Lido by day, Strip Club by night, which reflects the dual character of camouflage by imitation.

Ambushment 2
Bank & Casino
The Invisible Bank in the Ambushment Series, is located along the buried River Fleet. It is suspended in the air in an alley waiting for an ambush. It also blocks the important view of St Paul’s Cathedral. The invisible bank is dressed with flat screens on the front and image sensors on the back which transfer the image of St Paul on its façade. This way this hanging nest of steel and glass is hidden away. It also has dual character seen in camouflage where the bank turns into a casino by night.
